The small Bluetooth speaker is kept very simple and is available in matt black and white. With the materials chosen, dodocool pays particular attention to durability, which is why the loudspeaker is almost completely made of metal, plastic was only used on the underside. There is nothing wrong with the workmanship – the speaker has no processing weaknesses. It is only 42 mm high and 37 mm wide in diameter.

Functionalities

Besides the main function of the speaker, namely listening to music via Bluetooth, dodocool has added two other small functions to the speaker, which make it even a little smarter. On the one hand it has a microphone, which allows it to be used as a hands-free system. During some test calls we made with the small loudspeaker, this worked perfectly. My counterpart didn’t notice that I wasn’t using my smartphone, there was no feedback or communication problems. Another funny feature is the “self-timer function” – Yes you can really use the small speaker as a self-timer for the smartphone camera ? . All you have to do is start the camera while the speaker is connected to the smartphone and briefly press the on/off button on the speaker – and the photo is taken! Works with iOS and Android.

Sound quality

Of course you have to keep in mind that the speaker costs around $15 and is really very compact. Of course, it can’t compete with a lot pricier models. It should be seen as an extension of the internal smartphone speaker. The dodocool speaker is a lot louder, but at full volume a slight scratching is added. But as I said, it’s more of a funny gadget for the keychain than a serious Bluetooth speaker.

Battery and Bluetooth range

The built-in 300 mAh battery lasts 2-4 hours (according to the manufacturer), depending on the volume, and thanks to Bluetooth 2.1 it is compatible with almost all Bluetooth devices. The Bluetooth range is given as approx. 10 meters, which can be approximately reached on an open area. In closed rooms it is of course correspondingly less, unfortunately the signal strength is not sufficient for more than one concrete wall.

Conclusion

The dodocool DA84 Bluetooth Speaker is a funny gadget for on the go, if the mobile phone or laptop loudspeaker is not enough for you, especially when it comes to volume. The additional hands-free and self-timer function is not necessarily expected from such a small speaker and is a nice addition.
