Elephone PX: Smartphone with five cameras

Hey, guys! Just a heads up: The linked offer is already a bit older and the price of the gadget might have changed or it might not be available anymore.

Vivo and Huawei have triggered a lot of hype with their respective flagships this year. Elephone also wants to get involved and uses the Huaweis Triple Camera Concept and Vivo’s Pop-Up Camera Concept – and even goes one better with the Elephone PX.

Dual Pop-Up Camera

The information about the new Elephone PX is still quite thin, but a few photos give you an idea about the cameras of the device. The entire front reminds us very much of the Vivo NEX: rimless design, large display, no notch. But where is the camera? As with the Nex, the camera is hidden in the frame and can be pulled out if necessary. However, Elephone even installs two front cameras directly, which sit together on an extending module. This is also not located on the left side, but centrally.

Of course, this raises the question of what added value two front cameras offer. In our experience, many smartphone manufacturers cannot effectively use the advantage of the additional hardware to take better photos. A good portrait effect can now be achieved with software alone, as Xiaomi and Google prove.

More camera = better photos? No, the bill doesn’t necessarily add up.

Elephone PX with Triple Camera

If you look at the back, you can quickly identify where Elephone got its inspiration here. This year, the Huawei P20 Pro caused a sensation with a total of three cameras on the back and rightly won the title as the best camera smartphone. Also with the Elephone a vertically arranged dual camera module can be discovered, which is also equipped with a flash. Underneath there is another camera sensor. Whether it functions like a telephoto lens or maybe a ToF sensor like the Oppo R17 Pro is not known yet.

Otherwise, the Elephone PX also reminds us a little optically of the Oppo Find X. Nevertheless, it’s remarkable how thin Elephone’s edges are and the size as well as the color design make for a very high-quality impression. Nevertheless, Elephone does without a fingerprint sensor in the display and uses the fingerprint sensor classically on the back.

Evaluation

Otherwise no information about the PX is known yet. However, it is to be expected that the smartphone will be given the current “flagship equipment”. Say: Snapdragon 845, 6/8 GB RAM, approx. 6.3 inch display diagonal and a 3,500 mAh battery. If more info and more pictures are available, we will inform you about it.

Can the Elephone PX convince you in this form at least optically?

@lionel your are correct! I actually pre-ordered the Elephone s8 and use it as a WiFi phone. I honestly don't recall ever seeing even one update. It's running 7.1 out the box but whoopty Doo.
In it's defense, it is a really nice phone. I'd even entertain getting one of these upcoming ones if the price isn't crazy.
