Govee Temperature and Humidity Meter with App for $12,99 at Amazon
Maike has kindly taken a few photos of the Govee temperature and humidity meter, which are now also in the article. After her old alarm clock with temperature display broke, she needed something new. Her reason for buying the Govee Temperature and Humidity Meter was the extensive temperature display over days/weeks/months and the humidity, because once you have had to deal with mold, you like to be a bit overcautious 😉
The Govee Temperature and Humidity meter is currently available at Amazon for $12.99.
The Govee temperature and humidity meter can measure temperature and humidity as the name suggests. This data can be read either on the display itself or via the app.
Small but nice
The Govee temperature and humidity meter has a size of 2.75 x 1.96 x 3.93 inches and is available in white. The meter has a built-in LC display that shows the measured values. On the back, you have the option of either mounting the meter on the wall or placing it on tables via the folding mechanism. The meter is powered by 2 x AAA batteries, which are included in the scope of delivery. These provide a runtime of up to 7 months.
I can best imagine the hygrometer outdoors on the balcony, in the garden or the greenhouse. Due to the lack of waterproofing, you should store the device in safe covered places or take it inside during heavy storms. Indoors, you can also use the device to measure humidity or room temperature.
Connection and setup
The Govee meter can be connected to the cell phone or other devices. Pairing is done with Bluetooth via the Govee Home app (Android/iOS). The range is a maximum of 60 meters outdoors and is less indoors due to the walls. Unfortunately, there is no Wi-Fi integration, which means that it is not possible to check the measured values on the go. However, there are more expensive hygro- and thermometers from Govee that support Wi-Fi integration.
Measuring parameters and functions
With the Govee Hygro and Thermometer you can measure two different values, one is the humidity and the other is the temperature. The temperature can be selected between Fahrenheit and Celsius and is said to be accurate to ± 0.5 °F and ± 0.32 ° C respectively. For humidity, the value is ± 3% RH. Storage of humidity and temperature for the last 20 days on the device is also possible. In addition, the data of the last two years can be exported in CSV format.
The data updates every two seconds and can be displayed with an alarm via the app if the temperature or humidity fluctuates too much.
Weather meters are a nice gadget for the home and not a bad investment for the one or other hobby builder. The Govee temperature and humidity meter is very practical because it can be placed on the wall or table. Unlike some other weather meters, the display can also show measured values, which can be stored for up to 20 days via the app.
However, the biggest criticism I have of the Govee temperature and humidity meter is the lack of Wi-Fi integration. This eliminates the practical access while on the road. Additionally, an IP protection for the device would certainly be useful to use it safely outdoors.
The price of just under $13 is okay compared to other meters, although you get better features with other smart meters. In addition to measuring humidity and temperature, the Switchbot meter offers the advantage of WLAN integration and integration of voice assistants, which makes it easier to use on the go.To the gadget
