Haylou rounds down!
It could be that the abbreviation “RS” in the model name stands for round smartwatch, after all, the manufacturer relies on a classic, round wristwatch design. This makes it similar to the Haylou Solar, but because it is positioned in an upper price range, the watch looks a bit more elegant. The silver watch case made of aluminum is responsible for this. The manufacturer relies on a 22 mm silicone bracelet, which is easy to change. The Haylou RS3 Smartwatch is protected against water according to the ATM 5 classification, so you can shower and swim with it.
Most of the operation takes place via the 1.2 “AMOLED touchscreen display. The resolution is relatively high at 390 x 390 pixels, so that the pixel density of 326 ppi can even keep up with top smartwatches like the Huawei Watch 3. The fact that this is an AMOLED is not necessarily a matter of course in this price range. The display technology is more energy-efficient and in theory also ensures an always-on display. Haylou does not say whether this is the case. However, the watchface can be used also customize and or you can use the presets.
On the side there are also two function keys with which you can navigate through the menu. The watch has a weight of 46g with the bracelet, which makes it relatively light.
Functional scope of the Haylou RS3
The Haylou RS3 or Haylou LS04 is a restrictive and not an open smartwatch. This means that it is delivered with a customized system interface that has no (large) free memory and therefore does not allow app downloads. You have to be content with the pre-installed applications. These include some typical lifestyle functions such as weather forecast, music control, cell phone find, notification function and alarm / timer / stop watch. The connection to the smartphone is via Bluetooth 5 and the Haylou Fit app.
But the Haylou RS3 also attaches great importance to sports functions. You get 14 sport modes, including the essential modes like running, cycling or swimming, but also soccer, rowing and yoga. In swimming mode, the watch can even calculate the SWOLF value and for outdoor activities such as jogging, a Sony GPS sensor is also integrated, which is responsible for determining the position. The heart rate sensor measures your own pulse permanently and can also measure blood oxygen saturation, but also enables sleep tracking. An acceleration and gyro sensor are integrated for this purpose.
The battery has an average capacity of 230 mAh and thus promises a running time of twelve days. That should of course depend on how much GPS you use. It is charged with the supplied magnetic charging cable.

Assessment
The Haylou RS3 Smartwatch offers a little more than the standard smartwatch that is so often thrown out by different manufacturers. Simple but stylish design, AMOLED display, SpO2 measurement and GPS are a good combination for the price. Alternatively, there is also the Amazfit GTS and GTR of the first generation, which offer very similar features apart from the SpO2 measurement. The only weak point of the Haylou watches so far was the app, which could be better but basically works.
