Octagonal Design
When it comes to the design of the R2022, the manufacturer initially takes its cues from pretty much all other outdoor smartphones. Thus, the look of this device can best be described with a robust octagonal protective frame and silicone bumpers on the edges of the device. This is supposed to make it especially safe in case of drops. The smartphone comes in Volcanic Black, Sahara Yellow and Steel Gray colors and measures 170.5 × 82.5 × 15.5 mm with a proud weight of 350g.
The 6.78″ IPS LCD FullHD+ display has a resolution of 2460x 1080 pixels, which results in a pixel density of 396 ppi. The manufacturer chose a punch-hole front-facing camera that is positioned in the center. All four display edges are not necessarily thin, although at least the two side edges are not that noticeable. What is unusual for outdoor smartphones, however, is that this device has a 90Hz refresh rate, which makes the entire display of content look smoother on this device. On top of that, there is a maximum display brightness of 500 nits.
The back of the iiiF150 R2022 is made of hard plastic and apart from the triple camera module with 2 infrared lights, it only has the brand logo. The outdoor smartphone is of course certified with IP68 and IP69K like most other smartphones of this genre and should also have a -20 °C mode, which is not explained further, according to the manufacturer. The two IP ratings mean the iiiF150 R2022 is protected against dust, water and temperatures of up to 70 °C. It should also be able to withstand drops of up to 1.5 meters without problems and withstand a water depth of 1.5 meters for 8 hours.

Processor from MediaTek
Similar to the Ulefone Power Armor 13, the well-known MediaTek Helio G95 is used as the processor in this smartphone. This is paired with the ARM Mali-G76 as the graphics chip and works with a clock rate of 2.05 GHz. This is then joined by 8 GB of LPDDR4X working memory and 256 GB of UFS 2.1 mass storage.
8300 mAh battery
The iiiF150 R2022 has an 8300 mAh battery, which is charged with the included 18W charger, though this will certainly take a while to fully charge the device. The smartphone’s USB-C port is located under a cover that protects the device from water and dust. With the help of this battery, media playback of 15 hours and music playback of 30 hours should be possible.
Triple camera setup
Even though it looks like iiiF150 has installed a quad camera setup on this device, it is “only” three cameras. The main camera has a resolution of 64 megapixels and is joined by a 20 megapixel night vision camera and a 2 megapixel macro camera. The aforementioned infrared lights are positioned above these 3 camera sensors. On the front sits a 16 megapixel camera for selfies.
Connectivity of the iiiF150 R2022
First, it must be mentioned that the iiiF150 R2022 is not 5G capable due to the Helio G95 processor. However, due to the fact that the 5G network is not yet so mega present in Germany anyway, this can probably be tolerated. At least the bands 20 and 28, which are required for LTE reception, are on board. In addition, the iiiF150 R2022 has a dual-SIM function. Furthermore, the outdoor smartphone also supports Google Pay thanks to the integration of NFC. Of course, the manufacturer also installs the GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and AGPS positioning services in this device for all outdoor fans.
Assessment
The iiiF150 R2022 offers a decent overall package due to the various outdoor features, such as the multitude of location services. With the frame rate of 90Hz, it even has a certain unique selling point in the outdoor smartphone category. Unfortunately, there is not enough other data to really assess the device well. The price starts at just $200, which makes it quite affordable compared to other outdoor smartphones.
