Redmi Smart TV MAX with 98(!) inch screen
It has long been known that Xiaomi also makes televisions. The Chinese company has long been selling its low-priced TV sets in Europe as well. But the subsidiary company Redmi is also entering the market and has a model with the incredible 98 inch screen diagonal in its range – the Redmi Smart TV MAX. For the time being, however, it will only be sold in China.
Two questions: Who needs something like this and where can I get it? đ “Need” is something that hardly anyone will do. With dimensions of 2.19 x 1.35 m, only very few will find a place for this monster in their home. With 68 kg it is also anything but a lightweight. A screen diagonal of 98 inches is a value that you won’t necessarily reach even with many beamers (depending on the setup).
On the other hand, the technology is of course all there is to it. The resolution is of course 4K or UHD (3840Ă2160p), the frame rate 60 Hz. HDR, MEMC, Dolby DTS – with a TV in this category, all this is actually a matter of course. Inside is a Cortex A55 CPU, 4GB RAM and 64GB memory. Furthermore, Xiaomis PatchWall UI, which was already installed on the Mi TV 4, runs on the TV.
And how to get the TV? Not at all over here. Slowly Xiaomi is also pushing into the European market, but devices of this dimension will probably not be sold here for the time being. And even importing from China is hardly worthwhile; we don’t expect many Chinese shops to offer the Redmi Smart TV MAX at all.
In China, the TV is sold for 19,999 RMB, the equivalent of $2821.49. Compared to comparable devices in this country, this is a good price, but the TV would never be sold in the (even virtual) shops here. If it comes at all. More interesting is the implication that Redmi is no longer just the budget brand of Xiaomi. It comes as a surprise that one of the most expensive Xiaomi sets to date is now sold under the Redmi brand. One can be curious to see what future announcements are still to come.
