News Roborock T4 vacuum robot presented in China

Since the Roborock S6, one thought it would be quiet about the Roborock series again, as the Chinese manufacturer of household robots normally launches its models in a one-year cycle. But now another sensation: The Roborock T4 was introduced in China. A Lite version of the S6? Or even the S50? Here you can find out what is known so far.

You still have to be a little careful with the technical data, as the few reports contradict each other. In addition, some China shops that have already listed the T4 are talking about a water tank, while others do not. At least there is no picture with a wipe function, which is normally always advertised by manufacturers.

In addition, there is no information about the new top features of the S6, such as optimized map storage or single and multi-room cleaning.

Innovations only in the software?

Rumour has it that the T4 comes with a different, new type of laser room measurement, which will also have an effect on the map display in the app. No-Go zones (areas that the vacuum robot should not travel) and virtual walls can be drawn on the map. Not a real innovation, but a top model nowadays should include this in the software package. We think it will remain a rumour.

The mapping is said to have improved.

Voice control is also included in the software package. Since the T4 will initially only enter the Chinese market, it is still questionable whether it can also be controlled via Amazon’s Alexa or Google Home in the future. But it will be possible for the Xiaomi AI Speaker (Xiaomi’s Alexa counterpart).

Roborock T4 vacuum robot laser distance sensor
The laser distance sensor (LDS) for measuring the premises is included as usual.

Up to 250 mΒ² can be cleaned with a working time of 2.5 hours. If there is more ( obviously, rooms are divided differently ), the robot finds its way autonomously to the charging station, charges the 5200 mAh battery and starts to work off the rest of the area to be vacuumed.

After a working time of 2.5 hours, the robot must return to the charging station.

The suction power of 2000 pa is currently the measure of all things, even if manufacturers such as Blitzwolf with the BW-VC1 and Viomi with the V2 are preparing to top this value. However, these values still have to be proven in tests for all manufacturers. Optically one can at least say: The buttons on the upper side have been slightly changed again, otherwise the color reminds very much of the Roborock S55.

Purely optically one recognizes inevitably the Roborock style.

The variety of information is currently still somewhat poor, especially because the Chinese reports and shops (as usual) like to trump each other with the technical values. A single YouTube video that has appeared so far doesn’t necessarily tell you more about the new model, but you can already see the vacuum robot in (improved) action:

Outlook: Roborock T4 only for China?

According to the latest data, the T4 is not really a Lite version of the S6, as the data is very similar. Maybe a Roborock S6 without a wipe function? You’ll have to wait a bit until the rumors become clear.

When we asked Roborock, we were informed that the Roborock T4 was initially only intended for the Chinese market. At the moment there are no plans for a comparable or identical device for the international market. This may actually be the case at the moment, but it has also been communicated to all other models of Xiaomi or Roborock so far.

Only for the Chinese market? We think there’s more to come.

In China, the new suction robot will cost yuan in 1999, equivalent to ~$290. It will be officially available there between 16-18 June 2019. If a comparable model of the manufacturer would also appear here in Europe, one can expect a price of over $300. The price would still be absolutely in the range, the newer flagship models of the Chinese manufacturer are about $500.

What do you think: Do you need an international version of the T4?

I'm interested in Gadgets, that make our life at home easier - especially when it comes to cleaning the floor or the windows. I was able to test about fifty robot vacuum cleaners since now.
