Indestructible USB cables? The Syncwire UNBREAKcable from $7.99
Syncwire UNBREAKcable is what the manufacturer calls its cable. Indestructible? This daring statement (and the equally daring play on words) led us to simply put it to the test.
- Syncwire UNBREAKcable
- at Amazon for $7.99 (Micro USB)
- at Amazon for $8.99 (USB C)
- at Amazon for $9.99 (Lightning)
Does a cable have to be indestructible?
Why do I need an indestructible USB cable? If you’ve already broken a few, you know the answer. If you treat your cables like raw eggs or expensive family porcelain anyway, you probably don’t need the UNBREAKcable. But those who regularly run through the tense charging cables and pull them out of the wall (and take the smartphone off the table) can read on here. And maybe look for a more robust smartphone. ?
The cable is available in different versions, both with the still widely used Micro-USB and with the ever-increasing type C connection. Of course, iPhone users have also been considered and so the cable is also available with a Lightning plug. Different lengths are available in all variants, usually 1 to 2 metres.
Material of the cables
The cables should be able to withstand a pulling force of 125 kg. This is due to the special coating. The outer TPE layer is the thickest; it makes the cable feel very rubbery. The second layer underneath is a net coating of thin metal threads. The third layer underneath is an aluminium-mylar jacket, under which the actual cables – each once again individually coated with plastic – are located.

The cables are not particularly “beautiful”, which is important to some. Cables with nylon sheathing look better and feel more comfortable than the hard, rubbery surface of Syncwire. It is the equivalent of an outdoor mobile phone: functionality comes before design.
The Syncwire UNBREAKcable in an endurance test
Yoshi took care of the cable and shows you in the video what you can do with it. Whether you really have to be able to lift beer crates with it remains to be seen. But it is reassuring to know that you could do it in an emergency. ?
In any case, we turned, pulled and tugged – the cable kept its promises. Only the scissors could become dangerous for it.
Conclusion – Is the cable indestructible?
No, of course not. But it can take a hell of a lot, and it can’t be broken by the stresses and strains it faces in everyday life. The lightning version has on Amazon has (4,7 of 5,0 Stars) in 403 costumer reviews , the Lightning and Type C versions only a little less. We can definitely confirm the positive experiences.
If you don’t need a nice cable, but a stable one, then the Syncwire UNBREAKcable might be something for you.
