News UMIDIGI UWatch: new Smartwatch in the starting blocks
The smartphone manufacturer UMIDIGI recently disappointed us with the Z2 Pro, even though it has improved in some aspects. Now they try themselves anew and enter the promising market of wearables. The UMIDIGI UWatch is the foundation stone.

Classic Smartwatch design
In the past, the Z2 Pro just mentioned proved that UMIDIGI always attaches great importance to design. At the UWatch this card seems to be played out again, because the first photos look very promising. The Chinese manufacturer is oriented towards a round watch design and is heading more towards Mijia Hybrid-Smartwatch than towards Amazfit Stratos. The focus is clearly on a lifestyle design, which at first glance could be confused with an ordinary wristwatch.
The edge that surrounds the screen seems to be very thin. There are no dimensions, the display diagonal remains a mystery. A maximum diameter of 1.4 inches is conceivable, probably 1.4 inches as with a TicWatch E. The photos also reveal that there will be different straps for the watch. The silicone wristband is practical for the sporty demand, the stainless steel wristband is rather used in everyday life.
Which operating system?
Nothing is yet known about the hardware, but the specs also play a secondary role in a Smartwatch. Due to the cooperation with MediaTek for their smartphones, it can be assumed that a MediaTek processor for Smartwatches is now sitting in the UWatch. More important, however, is the software. Does UMIDIGI rely on WearOS? Did you develop your own operating system or do you throw Android 7.0 on it and just make it pretty with your own watchfaces and your own icon pack?
The first photos only give information about a few functions, but they are not surprising. The typical Fitness Tracker functions such as a pedometer, calorie consumption, run distance are of course given. In addition, there is of course a heart rate monitor and also more insignificant functions such as a remote control for the smartphone camera are supported.
UMIDIGI still owes us some facts about the UWatch. However, these will be announced on 11.11., Singles Day. In the run-up, the manufacturer will also raffle several copies directly via AliExpress. Based on our recent experiences with UMIDIGI, we are quite sceptical about the new watch. For a better estimation we are still missing some technical details.
