Wowstick hot glue gun with battery form $17.13/£13.51/14,52€ – Caution hot!

Hey, guys! Just a heads up: The linked offer is already a bit older and the price of the gadget might have changed or it might not be available anymore.

Connecting plugs was yesterday, today we glue wirelessly. The hot glue gun from Wowstick is compact, chic and can also be used outdoors for crafting thanks to the rechargeable battery. But can you expect more than just a nice look?

Wowstick hot glue gun

Small but fine

The small device from Wowstick is a battery-powered hot glue gun. The appearance reminds me strongly of an alcohol meter. However, I would rather not test the alcohol level with this thing. Measuring 11.6 x 4.4 x 2.5 cm, the glue gun is more compact than most common glue guns. From a purely visual standpoint, the hot glue device is not particularly eye-catching. The housing is made of aluminum and in a matte black with a red rubberized slider. This is to guide the glue into the nozzle.

The nozzle can be protected by a removable cap. In this, you have the possibility to store three glue sticks, so that you don’t have to take everything with you on the road. Whereby, I must say that I find three small glue sticks a bit little. The button to turn on the Wowstick hot glue gun is on the bottom, as well as the USB-C charging port for charging.

Such a design of the hot glue device saves you from constantly pressing the button to glue. So if you ever want to glue something more, you can do so without having pain in your index fingers.

Ready to use in 15 seconds!

The Wowstick hot glue gun can be heated up with the mentioned power button on the bottom. To start, you need to heat the hot glue gun to 160℃, then you can start gluing after 15 seconds. At Banggood you get 20 glue sticks and at Amazon to a similar model even 120 sticks supplied. The sticks can also be purchased separately. However, make sure that the glue is only 7 mm wide due to the nozzle.

The battery has a capacity of 2000 mAh and can glue for an incredible 2 hours without a cable. The Wowstick hot glue gun is charged via the USB-C port on the bottom and is ready to go again in 2.5 hours.

The question I ask myself about a battery-powered hot glue gun, do you really need a battery? The most obvious advantage of having a battery, you no longer need a cord. Thus, you can do work outside and is not dependent on a power outlet everywhere and for precise work, no cable interferes. The battery must be charged in return, if you want to work. Otherwise, it can happen that you have to wait 2.5 hours until the battery is full again.

Assessment

The Wowstick hot glue gun is I think not a bad investment for all hobbyists. Especially for the very good price of $17 you hardly get hot glue guns let alone with battery. Not only with the screwdriver sets, but also with the hot glue gun, Wowstick convinces with the successful design. With the built-in rechargeable battery, the glue gun can also be used in the garden and is not dependent on a power outlet. A battery charge of just under two hours is decent. The device is charged via USB-C, which is (unfortunately) still rare for small gadgets.

What I do not like are the small glue sticks for refilling the glue. If you want to glue more, you have to refill the sticks again and again. With the glue gun from Q/R, for example, you can use much longer glue sticks, but in comparison Wowstick can score with its much more compact and easy handling. So here you have to know for yourself which hot glue to use.

I've been fascinated in the Android world for a while, it starts with smartphones and ends with vacuum cleaners. So I can basically say that I am a technology nerd :-D
