Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G: Xiaomi’s most affordable 5G smartphone

Hey, guys! Just a heads up: The linked offer is already a bit older and the price of the gadget might have changed or it might not be available anymore.

Recently the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro were introduced globally. Surprisingly, Xiaomi still had a mobile phone in its luggage: the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G, the successor of the popular Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite.

Old, new design

Xiaomi does not adopt the design of the two flagships in the Lite version, but recycles the predecessor. This means: Waterdrop-Notch at the top of the screen instead of punch-hole design. The screen grows to a diagonal of 6.57″, which is slightly larger than the Mi 9 Lite. Of course, Xiaomi also relies on an AMOLED display with a FullHD+ resolution and a fingerprint sensor in the display.

The back, however, looks different. Xiaomi has probably looked around the competition and combines the Huawei P40 Lite with the Redmi Note 9S. The quad camera is arranged square and sits in the upper left corner. There is an LED flash under the four sensors. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G is available in three different colors: grey, white and aurora blue. Xiaomi takes the “Lite” suffix very seriously. The device weighs 192 g and is relatively thin at 7.98 mm.

New Qualcomm processor

The heart of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G Octa-Core processor, which clocks at up to 2.4 GHz and is found in the 5G version of the Redmi K30, for example. The processor supports 5G, making the Mi 10 Lite 5G the cheapest global Xiaomi smartphone with 5G support. Additionally, there is at least 6 GB LPDDR4X RAM and either 64 or 128 GB UFS 2.1 mass storage.

On the back is a quad camera. The main sensor offers a 48 megapixel resolution, whereby it is probably the Sony IMX586 from the predecessor. Which other sensors Xiaomi uses here has unfortunately not been revealed. We assume an ultra-wide angle camera as well as a macro and portrait sensor.

The battery turns out to be only slightly larger than its predecessor with a size of 4.160 mAh, but now offers 20W instead of 18W fast charging thanks to Quick Charge 3.5. The MIUI 11 operating system runs on the mobile phone, of course.

Evaluation

Xiaomi has not yet announced all the details and also not yet the official market launch. The price, however, is a bit higher at around $380, but still reasonable, especially compared to the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. In our estimation it’s only a small, but quite good upgrade compared to the Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite. But as many have surely noticed, the Mi 9 Lite is only available very sporadically. We assume that we will also like the Mi 10 Lite very much. What do you think about the new features?
