Xiaomi Mi Smart Air Fryer with 3.5L cooking chamber & app
All kinds of food are supposed to be prepared crispy and fast in air fryers. Xiaomi also jumps on board and releases its own air fryer, the Mi Smart Air Fryer. It comes with 3.5 l of cooking space, 1500W of power and up to 200 °C (392°F). A very hot gadget?
Now it’s getting hot at Xiaomi
Hot air fryers, also known as air fryers, are probably one of the trendy appliances of the last few years when it comes to kitchen appliances. After models from Philips or Tefal, more and more from the Far East also flocked to the market and now Xiaomi is joining in.
Almost typical Xiaomi we have a pretty minimalistic white case with an OLED touch display and a button on the front. You can pull out the cooking basket via a handle and fill it that way. If you want to “fry” several things at once, you can create a second level via a grid.
Crispy, fast & less oil
For those who do not yet own a air fryer and have not yet dealt with it, here is a brief introduction. In principle, the air fryer acts like a normal oven with hot air or circulating air and thus has rather less in common with a deep fryer.
However, due to the smaller design, it can heat up much faster and swirl the air around the food through the cooking basket. Thus, one achieves very crispy results, has much faster baking times and does not need to use oil as in deep frying.
OLED touch display, Mi Home app & voice assistant
The hot air fryer can be controlled either via the OLED touch display with integrated dial or via the Xiaomi Home app (iOS, Android). In the app, you can adjust the baking temperature, start the Air Fryer or schedule it up to 24 hours in advance.
The Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice assistants can also interact with the air fryer and can start it or announce the remaining cooking time. In the app, Xiaomi also offers a variety of recipes, so you can find inspiration for your next meal.
The cooking basket is covered with a non-stick coating, so your food won’t stick inside. It’s also dishwasher safe, so you don’t have to clean it by hand.
I’ve been using a hot air fryer as an oven replacement for almost two years now, since there was no more room in the kitchen. The whole thing works quite well, although the size is of course a limiting factor. Many associate an air fryer with fries, of course, which also get really crispy and delicious, however, you can really use it for anything that an oven would do as well.
With the Xiaomi Air Fryer, you now have the smart features of course, where everyone needs to know if they need them. In Germany, it starts at 99€ ($116,95) and should be available in September. The price is definitely typical for the market and Xiaomi is also known for its good offers.
