Xiaomi Mi Smart Kettle Pro with App Control for 48,90€/£58/$85.99
Xiaomi also only cooks with water. They already proved that years ago with the first Xiaomi Mi Smart Kettle, and now there is also a pro version: the Xiaomi Mi Smart Kettle Pro. Does a kettle have to be smart, let alone “Pro”?

Pro version or just a 2021 upgrade?
Xiaomi has hardly changed anything about the design of the Pro version compared to the first model. As with many Mijia models, the look is all white, with only the stainless steel shining on the top, which is also inside. The Mijia logo is presented on the bottom. As is also common with non-smart kettles, the Mi Smart Kettle Pro consists of the actual container and a 360° rotating base station, which is connected to the power via plug.
Visually, both models can be distinguished by the handle. Namely, the Pro version now features a display with temperature indicator, two “Boil” and “Keep Warm” buttons, and the Blutooth status LED. The buttons were still hidden inside the handle in the first model. Just like the first Xiaomi kettle, however, the Xiaomi Kettle Pro is again compatible with the Mi Home app. It is available for Android and iOS, but the kettle can only be connected via Bluetooth and not via WLAN. Thus, it cannot be started remotely. However, the boiling temperature, keep-warm temperature and duration can be set.
The Xiaomi Kettle Pro relies on 1,800W of power, 1.5 liters of capacity, and features a “quick boil” function that heats water in 5 minutes. However, this is definitely not the ultimate, some cheaper devices come with even more power. However, there are temperature profiles for different applications like tea or baby food. In addition, the kettle can keep water warm for up to 12 hours. The Xiaomi Kettle Pro is equipped with a triple safety protection and switches off automatically when there is no water, for example.
Assessment
Xiaomi is following a similar strategy here as it did with the Xiaomi Smart Stand Fan Pro and is simply re-releasing an already existing version with slight changes as a global version. The Mi Smart Kettle Pro is also very similar to the normal Smart Kettle, but it has simply been around for a few years. The addition of the name “Pro” is somewhat misleading; Xiaomi Mi Smart Kettle 2021 would have done just as well. Apart from that, do you even need a smart kettle? What do you say?
