Xiaomi Mi Wireless Mouse 2 – Nice mouse for $11.47

Hey, guys! Just a heads up: The linked offer is already a bit older and the price of the gadget might have changed or it might not be available anymore.

Wireless mice are now the absolute standard, but of course they have to meet certain requirements. They should fit comfortably in the hand, have a long battery or rechargeable battery life, and last a long time overall, so that after one failure after a few months you don’t have to buy the next one. Ideally, a mouse should also look like something – like the Xiaomi Mi Wireless Mouse 2.

What else is important with computer mice? Especially a wireless mouse should be light and small so that you can carry it with you in your backpack or briefcase. The Mi Wireless Mouse 2, with its size of 112 x 66 x 32 mm and a weight of 60 g, is beautifully compact and therefore meant to be

The housing of the mouse is made of plastic, the mouse wheel of aluminium. It’s difficult to judge from a distance how comfortable it is in the hand. But the shape chosen here is very common and can be found on many computer mice nowadays – we just assume that it will fit.

Compared to the somewhat older Bluetooth mouse from Xiaomi, this model is a little lighter, although slightly larger. The (old) Bluetooth version had a more original design and is still available in various Chinese shops. A newer (and more beautiful) Bluetooth mouse is also available.

The Bluetooth mouse is a bit flatter and available in two metal tones.

The wireless connection (no Bluetooth!) is specified here as 2.4 G and 125Hz and has a range of 10 meters according to the manufacturer. This should not cause any connection problems. The mouse is powered by an AA battery, which is not included.

The photoelectric sensor is located on the bottom (where else) and has a sampling rate of 1000 dpi. That would be little for a gaming mouse, but for office work this is perfectly sufficient.

Whether the shape is basically beautiful and pleasant, depends of course also on your own preference. I, for example, am used to gaming mice, which are always a bit bigger, and I don’t like working with flat mice like this one.

But some others might be looking for just that: a small, light mouse that isn’t as clumsy as the gaming models with a number of keys, some of which are in double figures. Fortunately, there are enough different wireless mice on the market to cater for all preferences.

Assessment

As a wireless mouse that you use in your home office or when travelling with your laptop, this mouse should be sufficient. This is exactly what it was made for. We’re not worried about the quality either – we’re used to good things from Xiaomi. The workmanship and functionality are very important, no matter if it’s a cheap computer accessory or an expensive smartphone (*cough* Mi 10 Pro *cough*). Compared to other manufacturers of wireless mice the price is also a bit higher, just because of the import. Sure, it’s cheaper, on AliExpress you can even get models under $5. Also on Amazon you can get good wireless mice for $10.

What do you think of the Xiaomi Mi Wireless Mouse 2? Do you like the design or do you have to be a Xiaomi fanboy to use it? And what do you like to use most? A mouse like this one, a gaming model, or even a touchpad or tracking ball?
